Typewriter Poets = MAGIC
Bespoke poetic engagement for special events.
Typewriters Anonymous delivers immersive typewriter poetry installations full of spectacle, inspiration, meaningful connection, and FUN!
We are the solution for party hosts and event planners who want their party to stand out and for their guests/patrons to feel like they are a part of something special and magical.
We've worked with The Library Foundation of Los Angeles, Play The LA River, UCLA, The Hammer Museum and The Skirball, bringing poetry to people tailored for site specific events.
You've probably seen us out on the scene, that's because Typewriters Anonymous is part of a larger growing revolution involving manual typewriters, the freedom to express oneself in a non-digital format and the hunger to connect to creativity.

We’re event producers with over a decade of experience who bring a creative, flexible and highly adaptable approach. For each event we work with our clients to design a “typewriter installation” complete with poets, vintage typewriters, stationary, and poetry display boards. We craft poems live, inspired by your party’s theme and your guests’ stories and words.
-
Typewriter poetry is highly portable and adaptable. Past events have included: weddings, bachelorette parties, retirement parties, birthdays, Bat and Bar Mitzvahs, life celebrations, memorials, family gatherings, festivals, fairs, launch parties, professional development trainings, company parties, and pop-up workshops.

Typewriters are portable and we are flexible. We can set up at a table or desk provided by the host or venue, or we can bring a folding table and chairs and linens. We have set up on TV trays in the forest, we’ve had clients transform a home office into a poetry den, and we’ve performed on a small raised backyard stage. We can bring signage, lights and an amplifier and microphone upon request.

In addition to writing live poems, we can also facilitate guests in typing their own creations and tributes.
• We can lead a spontaneous performance featuring poems written live during the event.
• We can designate a poet to interact with guests, collect quotes, stories, details, and weave them into a poem that commemorates the event.
• For expanded theatrical flair we can provide an emcee and collaborate with musicians and/or dancers for a truly one-of-a-kind spectacle.
• We can be commissioned to create a unique and interactive poetry gift and/or ritual.
• We can facilitate the co-creation of a special tribute or poetry artifact by a group of loved ones in advance of a special event.

Yes. We can have extra machines on hand for guests to type on for an additional $150 per typewriter. These machines must always have an attendant (our typewriter poets) who is familiar with the machine to assist the guests.

We look forward to learning about your event needs, logistics, and location and providing a customized quote. Generally, our typewriter poetry services start around $500 per poet for a two-hour minimum. Most events are best served by a minimum of two poets typing poems during a two-hour period. For most events we recommend two poets for a minimum of two hours, starting at $1,000.

There is no offer we will not entertain. And if we are not available, we have many colleagues in the field ready to help.
-
We can provide options for every guest in your party to receive a poem. However, that is not usually how it works. Instead, guests who need to find us, always do. And anyone who wants to interact with our installation is welcome. We always find the time to listen, interact and give experience to any and all who come across our typewriters. Some are content just to see us as spectacle, while others come in for a deep dive into our process.

Yes. We love to travel and our passports are up to date.

A 50% deposit will lock in your date and the balance is due upon completion of services. In order for us to give you an accurate quote, please tell us the location of your party, how many guests, if there will be other entertainment at the event and for how long you’d like the typewriter poetry installation to last.
